Miscarriage survivor & mother
Hermione Olivia’s first pregnancy ended in a haemorrhage on a remote island, followed by six weeks of bed rest, an experience she had never spoken about publicly before appearing on the podcast. What stayed with her longer than the physical loss was the silence around it: she went looking for other women who had been through the same thing and found they were everywhere, but invisible. She recalls feeling oddly alone and as though she’d done something wrong, only to discover, once she started talking about it in the real world, how many people close to her had had miscarriages she never knew about. At the time of the episode she was pregnant again, describing that second pregnancy as something layered, joy, fear, memory and hope held in the same container.
